If there really ever was anyone
Who could look inside my head, just before
I went to bed
And tell me my dreams before I had them
It would have to be you; Yes you siting
right there
Playing with your hair
Not wanting to look into my eyes and tell
me why
You don’t want to be with me.
I searched the Earth
I scoured the Land, I even played in a
rock-and-roll band.
I thought the road would find you
I should have known to look in
My backyard;
Not too near, but not too far
Just under a rock waiting to be turned
over
Then I found you and you looked up at me.
You looked right through me,
You walked right by me and fell into his
arms.
He lifted you up, he let you fall
He broke your heart, I’ll break his arms.
I picked you up
I wiped your eyes, I looked inside you and
almost died,
So I stayed there with you
And then you said to me
“How nice,
You’re a great guy,” you even called me a
sweetie pie,
You gave me a hug, held me close
And then a kiss on the cheek.
I couldn’t speak
To you because you turned around and
walked away
And found your way back to his arms
That’s when I stopped and when I called
out . . .
If there really ever was anyone
Who could look inside my mind, and get me
all high
With the thought of holding a hand
It would have to be you; Yes you standing
right there
Playing with your hair
Turned around to look into my eyes, can
you tell me why
You don’t want to be with me.
And then you stopped
You looked up to him, you saw right
through him
And then you turned back to me
You caught my eyes, and then you said
“What a surprise,
I always noticed that you were there, but
never just how much you cared”
You walked up to me
You saw my eyes and then you started to
cry.
I couldn’t speak
I felt the need, but all you said was,
“Just please,
Hold me tight, don’t let me go.”
That’s when I said, “Did you know . . .”
If there really ever was anyone
Who could look inside my head, just before
I went to bed
And tell me my dreams before I had them
It would have to be you; Yes you standing
right here
Playing with my hair
Wanting to look into my eyes, and with a
sigh
Tell me how much you love me. |
