Why

Fall 2000

Isn't it funny,

Or more often quite absurd,

To sit in a room without heat or light

Waiting for when the time is right to take a chance.

And yet you let it pass?

When questioned

And interrogated on our reasons why

We observed in silence the circus of the world,

We say we turned away as it all unfurled into something unseen,

Hidden because we had not the key.

Empty, incomplete

Content, yet not at all because we stayed

Sitting in a room without heat or light

Waiting for when the time was right to take a chance.

Why then, did we let it pass?
